No one was successful in voting more than once – IEC

The IEC said it was a crime to attempt to vote more than once, hence the suspects were arrested.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) vice-chairperson, Janet Love, said that none of the suspects who allegedly attempted to cast a vote more than once were successful.

This was announced during a press briefing at the National Results Centre in Pretoria.

The deputy national commissioner of police, Lieutenant General Sehlahle Masemola, revealed that 17 people were arrested for allegedly attempting to vote more than once:

Love further stated that the commission was disappointed by the conduct of some political parties for breaching the code of conduct and for causing disruption earlier today, 10 May.
