Pridwin Prep College cruises past St Bennedicts Prep

JOHANNESBURG – St Benedict's suffer defeat in day two of the St John's Easter Rugby festival.


The morning game at St John’s Easter Rugby festival saw Pridwin Preparatory claim a comfortable 45-5 win against St Benedict’s.

The game got off to an interesting start with Pridwin prep having the upper hand and looking dangerous in attack. It wasn’t long before the Pridwin boys crossed the line for their first try, thanks to Vries Alex, followed by a converted spot kick from Stuart Faber.

On the other hand, St Benedict’s were trying hard to get back into the game through the likes of scrumhalf Christiano Cruz and Flyhalf Tyler Pharo, but the opposition defense was solid.

As the game proceeded, Pridwin kept dominating. Robbie Veldtman was the next boy to cross the line, and penalty taker Stuart Faber made no mistake in converting the penalty.

St Benedict’s pushed hard to get back into the game as their coach brought on fresh new legs. Declan Le Roux burst through the middle with pace to get St Benedict’s first try of the game. However, the Bennies couldn’t convert their spot kick.

Michael Henderson of Pridwin extended the score for his side with his blistering pace down the left flank.

Following good combination play in the closing stages of the game, Alex Vries scored the last try for Pridwin thanks to a wonderful pass from Thomas Kruger. Stuart Faber made no mistake in converting the final spot kick to hand his side a 45-5 win.

Coach of Pridwin, Hebbert was impressed with how his boys performed against St Benedict’s ” It was a great game of rugby, the boys were spreading the ball around nicely and it was a convincing victory, I’m really proud”.
