Home Affairs warns of people claiming to be its employees

JOHANNESBURG – The Department of Home affairs are warning residents about a group of people who are claiming to be Home Affairs officials and then allegedly robbing people.

The Department of Home Affairs has warned people not to allow any person pretending to be a Home Affairs employee into their residential homes.

The warning comes after a post doing rounds on social media of a group of people who are apparently going around to people’s homes pretending to be Home Affairs employees and then allegedly robbing them of their belongings.

“Be warned, there is a group going to homes and pretending to be officials from Home Affairs. They have documents with the letterhead ‘Department of Home Affairs’ and claim to be confirming that everyone has a valid ID for the upcoming elections. They are robbing homes,” warned the department.

The added, “Take note there is no initiative like that from the government. Send this on your neighbourhood group chat. They are everywhere and they look presentable.”
