First park clean-up for the year

EMMARENTIA – The clean-up encourages volunteers to come and assist for as much of that time as they can.

EMMARENTIA – The Emmarentia Residents Association will host their first ‘Come clean-up the park’ morning for this year on 23 February.

The association started working with the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens to assist with the dog-walking section of the park. The association said, “We identified areas of work with them and then organised two work mornings in 2018. Saturday 23 February is the first one in 2019.

“We have publicised it on social media and by putting posters at the entrances to the park, and by sending to schools in the area as well as people that assisted in 2018.”

The association urged schoolchildren to participate on the day and added that they will be given community participation certificates for their help.

The day will include picking up litter and cleaning up after dogs as well as removing invasive alien plants in specific areas. The clean-up will start at 8am and finish at 12pm. Volunteers are encouraged to come and assist for as much of that time as possible.
