De La Salle Holy Cross swimming team participate in the annual Midmar Mile

VICTORY PARK – De La Salle Holy Cross swimming team also raised funds for a good cause at Midmar Mile.


On 10 February, De La Salle Holy Cross College swimming team took part in the annual Midmar Mile.

For the past three years, the team of 35 swimmers has raised money for NSRI Station 5 base in Durban in thanks for the selfless work the volunteers do in keeping everyone safe in the water.

Matthew Derwin, De La Salle Holy Cross College boys’ swimming captain said, “Swimming the Midmar Mile was an amazing experience, and we all bonded as a swimming team. The race is something truly special and one of the best-organised events out there.

“We raised over R13 000 for the NSRI and we are honoured and proud to be able to support such a wonderful organisation.”

Gabby Fischer, the college girls’ swimming captain said, “It was a weekend full of new friendships, spirit building and lots of swimming. All who did the swim proudly completed it, and it was a great experience for all of us.”
