65-year-old woman arrested for perjury

LINDEN – A 65-year-old woman has been arrested for perjury.

 


 The Linden police have arrested a 65-year-old woman for perjury after she had attempted to open up a case of false vehicle theft.

Linden Police Station spokesperson Constable Takalani Matumba said, “The woman came to the police station to open a case of theft, claiming that her motor vehicle had been stolen.”

The police opened up a docket for investigation. When they investigated further, they discovered that the vehicle had been sold by the owner, who reported it as stolen soon after.

Matumba continued, “The woman was interviewed and agreed that she did sell the car. She was arrested and detained at the Linden Police Station and will be appearing soon in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

“We would like to warn the community about opening false cases. Our detectives do their investigations very well, and if it is found that a person has opened a false case, they will be arrested immediately and charged with perjury.”
