CPF asks residents to help them keep the area safe

FAIRLAND – How are you contributing to a safer community?

FAIRLAND – The CPF have identified a few resources they need from the community going into the New Year.

Fairland Community Policing Forum is a branch of the community that is loved and supported by many. They do safety and security-related work such as patrolling the streets of the neighbourhood, alerting residents of the latest crime trends, counselling victims of crime and other tasks. As much as they do everything they do for free, they do need a list of resources in order to fulfil their commitment to make the area safer for all.

At their CPF meeting early in January they asked residents in attendance to assist them with the following:

  • To create and implement fundraising ideas. This money would be used to continue the work of their groups and units such as the victim support unit.
  • More people to apply to join units such as victim support and night patrollers. Victim support also hopes that more men will join them this year.
  • Bulletproof vests, torches and traffic cones are needed by the night patrollers. These patrollers leave the comfort and safety of their homes to ensure the safety of the community. The CPF asks that the funds for these to be collected to ensure their safety while on duty.

These would go a long way in continuing the marvellous work that the CPF has already done.

Anyone with ideas, applications or things to donate to the CPF are advised to email CPF secretary Mahmood Cassim at cassim221@hotmail.com
