A welcome White Elephant in the community

NORTHCLIFF – Support and donations from residents as well as their charity shop have had a remarkable year in spite of the economy this year.

A local charity organisation’s Christmas wish is simply for the community to keep supporting their charity efforts.

The White Elephant Curiosity Shop is a charity shop where the public can drop off their unwanted goods which are still in good condition for donation.

A magical shopping experience awaits inside The White Elephant Curiosity Shop in Northcliff.

Currently the non-profit organisation, which is open daily, donates their proceeds to 18 different charities of their choice which range from babies, children, old age homes, patients with severe medical conditions and animal rescue shelters.

Leon de Villiers from The White Elephant said, “This year the organisation has received tremendous support and incredible donations which were from residents in the area as well as from as far as Edenvale, Kempton Park, Pretoria, Rustenburg and Vereeniging. Our best highlights were all the accolades which we have received on the layout, artistic display of goods and the neat, and tidiness of our shop,”

This year the economy and recession were lowlights for the organisation and the uncertain political arena which they said gave cause for many businesses to close down. “The charity industry was also not spared and several charity shops noticed a drop in sales.”

The White Elephant Curiosity Shop offers a magical shopping experience for shoppers.

According to De Villiers, the hero of their shop is Laura de Sousa. “[She] has created a magical and amazing browsing experience for potential shoppers. She has done a super job and her tireless way of pricing and displaying items for sale has attracted many an admiration from customers.”

Humbly their only Christmas wish is for the community to keep on supporting the organisation with donations and buying their goods on display at the shop, which in turn supports their charity efforts.

The White Elephant Curiosity Shop is based in Northcliff and offers a shopping experience for shoppers.

De Villiers said that in 2019 they hope for consumers to regain confidence in the economy and that fuel prices will come down. “For us, we trust that our third year of operation will be the best year!”

Their shop is situated at 225 Beyers Naude Drive in Northcliff. Their Facebook page TWECOTheCuriosityShop handled by De Sousa, has become very popular and is worth a like and share for customers to stay abreast of what is happening at the shop.
