UPDATE: Documents show approval of Berario building project

BERARIO – Meeting planned to address the building project that has angered residents.

As residents were gathering support to oppose a proposed student accommodation building that is meant to house 48 students, they were informed that the project will continue.

This discovery came as one of the residents was sent official documentation of Stand 353 in Berario at 185 Arkansas Avenue.

The document, a building plan of the project, shows five approval stamps with one coming from Emergency Management Services.

The stamps also expose when these plans where signed off with the earliest stamp dated on 16 October 2018.

Residents have been angered by this document as they still haven’t received sold answers from the City of Johannesburg on the matter.

One of their main concerns was how the project could continue if it contravened with city by-laws.

These approval stamps from the City’s entities have further increased the feeling among Berario residents of foul play being involved in the issue.

A public meeting has been scheduled on 3 December to address the matter.

The meeting will take place at the Berario Recreation Centre between 6pm and 8pm.

Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting as it will give them a chance to fully engage with City representatives on the matter.
