Victim escapes unharmed from attempted Northcliff hijacking

NORTHCLIFF – No injuries reported in a near-lethal attempted hijacking.

Shots fired in an attempted hijacking at the corner of Frederick and Beyers Naude drives.

A victim was left unharmed after suspects attempted to hijack his BMW on the evening of 18 November.

The incident took place at the corner of Frederick and Beyers Naude drives in Northcliff.

According to the Fairland police, five suspects in a white Audi A3 hatchback attempted to hijack the victim’s vehicle.

Three shots were fired by the suspects with two of them hitting the victim’s vehicle. The victim then reversed his vehicle into the suspects’ Audi, causing damage to the right-hand side of the car.

The suspects then ditched the scene and hijacking.

Fairland Victim Support Unit treated the victim and the police station has opened cases of attempted hijacking and attempted murder.

The Fairland Community Policing Forum has put out a cautionary note to its members, not to waste unnecessary time in their driveways.

This is when such criminals will try to take advantage of you. They also stated that motorists need to stay alert at all times.

They are advising residents to report any incident or suspicious behaviour to the police and their private security company as soon as possible.
