CPF awards helpful community members

FAIRLAND – Residents involved in the bettering of the community received special certificates to honour them for all they have done this year.

A special Community Policing Forum meeting was held on 13 November at the Mosaïek Church where special certificates were given to community members and leaders who had made a difference in the community this year.

The monthly meeting attended by CPF members, support groups, councillors, security companies and residents of Fairland.

The certificates recognised the different members within the community that had gone one step further to really make an impact on the lives of many.

Below is a list of the certificates given:

  • Support councillors – handed to Victim Support Unit members and Ebrahim Hoosen
  • Support of bulletproof vests – Richard Edmondson, Romi Vidmar, Heinrich Sullwald and Clive Maher
  • n Donations received – Juane Celliers for printing of flyers, Wayne Hall for beautifying police grounds and buildings, Ian Hallowell for electrical repairs and the Mosaïek Church for the use of their hall for meetings
  • Patrollers certificates to all patrollers in the Fairland CPF
  • Fallen heroes – Jennifer Friend, Diane Strickett, Wayne Fitzgibbon, Bhaai Cassim and Fairland CPF
  • Private security companies – BCI, Beagle Watch, National, Sirius and SCP
  • Ward councillors – councillor Beverly Weweje, councillor David Hensman and councillor Amelia Bester
  • Organisers of Fairland Spring Market – Yasmine Miemiec, Robert Janbroers and Olivia Hardy.

And a special posthumous lifetime achievement award was handed to Mollie Pearman who, unfortunately, passed away a few weeks ago and the award was handed to her son Michael Pearman.

Aunty Mollie as she was fondly referred to as by those who knew her, was a detective in the police force in the UK and came to South Africa to join South African Police Service as a Reservist Trained Saps officers at Fairland and taught many detectives there in the art of solving crime.

She retired at age 65 but continued giving to the community service via the Victim Support Unit.
