BRIXTON – Another firearm off the streets of the community.

Two men were arrested after being found in possession of a firearm and ammunition illegally and a third was detained for having a toy gun and live ammunition on his person.

The arrests took place in the evening of 11 November according to Brixton Police Station spokesperson Jeanette Backhoff.

She said Crime Prevention members were patrolling along High Street in Brixton when they noticed a suspicious looking man.

The officers stopped and searched him and found he was carrying a toy gun, and a real magazine and ammunition.

While they were arresting the man, a black Audi nearby sped off at high speed. The officers put out an alert for the vehicle.

Backhoff said, “The Crime Prevention unit drove around and spotted the same Audi in Mayfair West. They stopped the vehicle and searched it.”

In the vehicle, they found a firearm with its serial number filed off and ammunition. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
