27 boxes hosts Diwali festival

MELVILLE – Flavourz of India celebrates with lights and colour in honour of the five-day festival.

Owners of Flavourz of India held a Diwali festival at 27 Boxes recently.

The festival was a huge success with a turn out of about 2 000 people.

 

Indian traditional dancers entertain the crowd at the Diwali festival held on 27 October.

 

According to Sonita Sohan from Flavourz of India, the entrance was free, and they had lined up entertainment in celebration of all things in order with the Festival of Lights.

Diwali is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism.

The preparations and rituals for the festival typically last five days and the festival symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

During the five days’ period of celebrations temples, homes, shops and office buildings are brightly lightened up.

On the day of the event, there was a variety of stalls including food markets, clothing stalls, a henna tattoo stall and entertainment with live Indian dancers and a DJ.
