Brixton Police launch Divine Intervention initiative

Police have launched an initiative to identify and focus on different policing areas and use divine intervention as a medium to address the broken communities in a spiritual way.

As we go into the festive season, social crimes will be on the rise and the police have launched an initiative to tackle this. With the help of religious organisations, social workers and youth leaders, the police have launched their Divine Intervention initiative. This project will focus on the community’s unemployed youths, gangsterism, prostitution and other social issues that lead to crime.

Brixton Police Station Commander Colonel Mkhancani Josias Maluleke has welcomed this project. He stated, “We will use this opportunity to pray for the suspects detained at the station, we also use this time to speak to the detainees to find out why they are in the current situation and what led them to a life of crime.” He believes that the correct assistance from different role players will result in these people being fully rehabilitated and enable them to contribute to building a better community.

Pastor Pieter Terblanche is one of the community leaders that have pledged his time and resources to this initiative. He has availed himself to pray for members of the station every Thursday. This is the effort that the station would like to see the public exercise.

Spokesperson for the station, Jeanette Backhoff, said, “We believe that the initiative of Divine Intervention is a step in the right direction and these small steps will lead to a better society, healthy at mind and otherwise.”
