Belly dancing enjoyment for those at Fairland Market Day

FAIRLAND – Putting names to the lovely belly dancers you saw at the Fairland Market Day.

The Fairland Market hosted on 30 September by the Fairland Community Policing Forum was a day of fun for many as Aliyah Free Style Tribal Belly Dance Troupe added flair to the market.

Those in attendance were spoilt with entertainment and education and a special performance from the belly dancers.

Desley Booysen and the Aliyah Free Style Tribal Belly Dance Troupe put on a colourful belly-dancing showcase at the Fairland Market Day on 30 September 2018.

The troupe, based at the Berario Recreation Centre has previously performed for various charity fundraisers and this time took their talents to the heart of the community.

Desley Booysen of the troupe shared why they involve themselves at such events.

She said, “All the girls love to dance and it is a way we can give back.”

Booysen is inviting people interested in belly dancing to do it with them.

“The style of dance we do is freestyle tribal-inspired belly dancing and anyone can do it, no matter one’s age or gender.”

Aliyah Free Style Tribal Belly Dance Troupe’s Megan Flemming put on a magnificent belly-dancing show.

In the January 2019, they will launch their beginner classes but do welcome people to join them this year for a social tryout of the dance form.

Booysen added, “I always give it my all and dance as if no one is watching because if someone is watching and I can put a smile on one face I am overjoyed.”
