14-year-old girl in critical condition after being struck by a gas cylinder
NEWLANDS – Gas cylinder seriously injures a young girl
A freak incident took place on the evening of 30 September when a 14-year-old girl was struck by a gas cylinder.
According to ER24 paramedics who were on the scene, men were busy with the cylinder across the road from where the girl was standing.
A problem then occurred with the cylinder resulting in it flying across the road and striking the girl.
Paramedics said they found the girl lying on the sidewalk with serious injuries to both of her legs and she was in a critical condition.
Paramedics provided her with advanced life support interventions.
She was then transported to Helen Joseph Hospital in Westdene for urgent treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
