St Augustine College to raise funds for students through raffle

VICTORY PARK – Students do their part to make higher education a little less expensive.

St Augustine College’s Student Representative Council are running a raffle to help secure funds for future students.

As the third anniversary of the #FeesMustFall protests that gripped the country approaches, the Student Representative Council (SRC) of St Augustine College are actively working towards making education accessible to those that can’t afford it.

They have decided to run a raffle with some awesome prizes up for grabs.

Student council president Busani Tshuma said, “Raising money for financially needy students is a very good cause.

Higher education is very expensive and we hope the money we raise can go to funding future students of the college.”

Cornel Smith, student council member, believes a raffle was the best method to involve as many people as possible in order to maximize the chances of collecting a sizable amount of funds for their goal.

There are three prizes that raffle participants can win.

The first prize will be Dis-Chem sponsored hamper valued at R4 000. It includes Bentley and Michael Kors perfumes and Gucci, LA Girl and Palladio bags.

The second prize is a Volkano Bazooka Bluetooth speaker valued at R500. Last but not least, the third prize is a R300 Mugg and Bean voucher.

Smith explained that each raffle ticket costs R50 and the competition will run until 3 October.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from St Augustine College or you can contact Busani or Cornel to make an alternative arrangement.

The college will announce the winners of the raffle in a multi-platform social media live stream.
