A distinguished ceremony saw the Rotary Club celebrate some of their members and welcome a few new faces to the organisation.
The Northcliff Rotary Club awarded their prestigious members for this year. The ceremony was highlighted by excitement and enjoy as Dr Jan Christoph Hardenfedt was inducted as the club’s new president while Coral Stewart was inducted as vice president.
The club also inducted three new members – Robert and Agatha Jocobz and Christine Malata.
President Jan Christoph welcomed them to the club and was encouraged to see younger members joining and challenged them to get involved in the numerous projects that are currently undertaken by the club.
The rotary club, a non-profit organisation which raises money or goods for charity, also awarded Zorba Miltiadou from Pick n Pay Northcliff Square the Paul Harris award.
This award is the highest accolade by the rotary and is given to an individual for their community support.
Miltiadou was heavily involved in the Camp Quality project by the rotary club. The project gives children who have been diagnosed with cancer a week away to White River in Mpumalanga.
The evening culminated with acknowledging club members for their dedicated service in the 2017/2018 Rotary year.
The Brian Thurtell trophy was awarded to Paul Westcott and the Norman McCloud trophy was awarded to Dean Gounden.
