WATCH: Apparent attempted driveway robbery in Roosevelt Park caught on video

ROOSEVELT PARK – It is not clear if the suspects got away with anything.

An apparent attempted robbery in Roosevelt Park has been caught on video, showing a victim attempting to stop the would-be robbers in their tracks.

SCP Security’s Clive Maher said the incident happened on Tuesday night in Anton van Wouw Street.

The video shows the unsuspecting victim in a car entering their driveway when another car drives by, slowly coming to a halt. Two suspects casually exit the second car and approach the victim’s property. What happens in the property is not captured by the camera, but the driver of the suspects’ vehicle decide to turn the car around. Mid-turn, the two suspects hastily return, with the victim on their heels.

The video then shows the victim seemingly trying to take control of their car by opening the driver door and grabbing the steering wheel.

But the suspects managed to escape, leaving the victim laying on the side of the road.

Founder of the community group, eBlockwatch, André Snyman, said the incident did not take place in Pretoria as initially reported, but in Roosevelt Park. He asked that anyone with information about the incident come forward and also join eBlockwatch ‘so that we can have a chance of nailing these guys’.

It is not clear if the suspects got away with anything or if the victim was injured. Police have been contacted for comment and the story will be updated as soon as it is received.
