Planned water outage for Westdene and Welties

JOBURG – The planned outages will last for a period of eleven hours at most.

Taps are set to run dry in some parts of the western suburbs as Johannesburg Water plans to conduct much-needed maintenance early next month.

Suburbs affected include Westdene and Weltevreden Park.

In Westdene, the planned outage will occur on 5 September from 8am to 4pm. Residents of End Street will not have any water during this time.

Weltevreden Park and surrounds will be without water on 4 September from 6am to 5pm and water tankers will be available at Corner Kroton and Stamper Road.

Meanwhile, Johannesburg Water has been hard at work restoring water supply to a number of the City’s suburbs that were left either running low or completely dry when an explosion at the Eikenhof substation affected the Rand Water Eikenhof pump station.

Most households have been restored to full supply and those who are still without water should be getting theirs soon.

Residents are encouraged to remain water warriors by using the following tips to save water:

  • When brushing your teeth, fill a glass with rinsing water – don’t leave the tap running
  • Reduce time spent in the shower, five minutes should be sufficient
  • Always use a bucket of water to wash your car instead of a hosepipe
  • Fix all leaks in your home.
