Simone Nortmann talks about her role in Stroomop

LINDEN – Playing a single, depressed and suicidal data analyst.

Meet the lady who brings Stoomop’s Vivian to life, Simone Nortmann.

Simone Nortmann stars in the latest local movie Stroomop and plays the character of Vivian, a data analyst.

After being left by the love of her life, Vivian falls into a pit of depression and eventually tries to commit suicide. She ends up in therapy and is sent to the Orange River.

On her retreat, she and four other women experience a nightmare chain of events that ultimately helps her overcomes her isolation, co-dependency and fear of everything in general.

Northman who also starred in Vuil Wasgoed, Wonderlus and For the Birds reflected on some of the challenges and joys of filming Stroomop.

She said, “Most of the SFX (special effects) scenes were difficult where I had to imagine seeing and reacting to a snake and hyenas. It definitely is more difficult if you have never been in a similar situation.”

She found pleasure in working with everyone on set. She couldn’t single out one person and said “Everyone was amazing and it would be very difficult to single someone out. I learnt so much from every other actress and even Armand Aucamp was such a treat on set.”

Northman has more coming for fans of her work with a very exciting project planned for October, which she chose to keep as a secret.

She will also be working on season three if kykNET’s Hotel in September.

In the meantime she encourages everyone to run to their nearest cinema to watch the incredible talented ladies of Stroomop put on a show to remember.

She said, “It’s a first for an Afrikaans film. It’s adventurous and has a lot of heart and soul. Every single woman would be able to relate to one or more of the characters.”
