Brixton community has running water once again

BRIXTON – Water issue finally flushed away.

Water woos finally come to an end after Joburg Water resolve challenges at the local reservoir.

Joburg Water are pleased to announce that they have attended to the Brixton water tower which caused water restrictions in the area.

Over the last 18 days, residents and business owners in Brixton and surrounding areas experienced water outages and lack of water pressure.

Brixton residents have been complaining to Joburg Water about the matter.

One resident, Saki Butler, said “It has been 18 days of either intermittent water supply or zero supply.

It took over a week for Joburg Water to supply water tanks to the area and even now, they run dry from such high demand and take ages to be refilled.”

Spokesperson of Joburg Water, Isaac Dhludhlu said they completed the repairs to the reservoir on 22 August.

“Our teams did some testing at the Brixton Reservoir on 20 August and found that there is a restriction from the reservoir to the tower.

We have established that at times there isn’t sufficient capacity in the reservoir which affects water supply.”

Due to the water challenges, residents had to queue for water at the tankers which were made available by Joburg Water.

As of the morning of 23 August, Dhludhlu confirmed that water supply services had returned to normal for the affected areas.

He did acknowledge that the delay to their services was caused by electrical issues faced by Rand Water, who supply Joburg Water with their water.
