9th Avenue and Rugby Road closed until further notice
WELTERVREDEN PARK – Road closures will affect people travelling to and from Fairland.
Motorists and commuters travelling through 9th Avenue and Rugby Road are advised that these roads will be closed for the foreseeable future.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) are informing the public that 9th Avenue and Rugby Road in Weltevreden Park will be closed off due to a collapse of the bridge abutment.
According to the agency, Rand Water contractors were installing pipes next to the bridge on 9th Avenue when the support structure of the bridge collapsed.
The closure of these roads will affect motorists and commuters travelling through the area to access surrounding neighbourhoods such as Fairland.
The agency apologises for the temporary inconvenience and wish to reassure road users that the urgent rehabilitation of the bridge is a priority.
