84 arrests made by Linden police, more expected in coming days

LINDEN – Linden police still vigilant regardless of low number of arrests in July.

Police are still on standby even though there was a low number of arrests made during the month of July.

Linden police made 84 arrests between 1 and 25 July. A spokesperson for the Linden police, Constable Takalani Matumba said they made a number of arrests for malicious damage to property, domestic violence, assault and possession of stolen items. She also said, “We made a lot of arrests for drugs – dagga in particular – and two arrests for attempted murder.”

According to Matumba, the number of arrests made this month are low as they usually arrest between 120 and 130 people a month. She said although they are happy, they will still remain vigilant during the last few days of the month, especially considering that crime tends to increase at the end of a month.

Matumba said the station has had an increase in the number of house robberies that have been reported to the police. She urges residents to take the relevant measures to ensure that they do not become victims of crime.

Linden police request that members of the community assist them in making the area crime-free. If you have any information on criminal activity, please contact them. Anonymous tip-offs are welcome as well.
