Brixton police arrest four suspected car thieves

BRIXTON – End of the road for these alleged car thieves.

A high-speed chase resulted in the arrest of four suspected vehicle thieves.

On 18 July, as the world celebrated Mandela Day, the four were arrested by the Brixton officers.

Spokesperson for the police station Jeanette Backhoff said, “A call was dispatched on the radio about a vehicle that was stolen in Bryanston and that it was on its way to Auckland Park/Brixton area.”

Officers on duty were informed to be on the lookout for a stolen grey Toyota Etios.

Flying squad and reservist from Brixton Police Station spotted the vehicle and a car chase ensued.

Police managed to bring the vehicle to a stop at the corner of Portland Avenue and Magalies Street and arrested the four suspects.

Backoff said the suspects have been charged with being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and will appear in court soon.
