Suzuki Northcliff collects supplies for Oasis Haven

NORTHCLIFF – Mandela Day fever hits car dealership.

A local car dealership put down their keys and picked up shovels and rakes for Mandela Day.

For the second year in a row, Suzuki Northcliff has participated in Mandela Day community projects.

This year the dealership aimed to collect 100 grocery items that were to be donated to Oasis Haven.

They called on members of the community to assist them in doing so and throughout the day people entered their doors with groceries for their cause.

Donations of cleaning supplies, food and toiletries came from customers, staff, suppliers and children. Apart from the donations, they also committed their energy and time to clean the grounds of Oasis Haven.

Bianca Nagel shared the team’s excitement in helping the community.

She said, “We are blessed. At 11.49am we already had 90 items collected, 10 to go to our target, by 12pm we went over the 100 target, hitting 145 items and at 12.37pm, our count finished on 175 items.”

Once the items were collected they made their way to Oasis Haven.

They arrived at their destination with South African flags waving out of their vehicles and were given a tour of Oasis and met the children there.

Nagel said, “We then, as a team, took a walk through the garden and selected the spot we’d like to beautify and leave our mark. We chose the area right next to the play gym, creating an uplifting vibe, giving them an extra homely touch.”

She said that Suzuki Northcliff is proud to have made an effort and difference this Mandela Day.
