Tedcor devoted to helping Zandspruit children
ZANDSPRUIT – Waste Management company Tedcor spent their Mandela Day with the children of Masakhane-Tswelelopele Primary School.
A local waste management company spent their 67 minutes on Mandela Day helping the children of Masakhane-Tswelelopele Primary School.
Tedcor is a waste management company and they are proud of doing a multitude of physical community upliftment work in Zandspruit.
Over the past year, Tedcor has contributed to the renovation of the school’s kitchen and had started paving the school grounds.
On Mandela Day, the company gathered a bunch of volunteers to spend some time with the schoolchildren and collected donations in the form of party packs to give to the children.
CEO of Tedcor Verona Ismail said, “Our company is a company that gives back wherever we work. We are a waste management company, so whatever we take out of the earth, we do our best to give back. Our cooperatives work here in Zandspruit, and since then, we have really developed a love for this community.
“When it comes to Mandela Day, I encourage every staff member to give their 67 minutes, but I also encourage them to give back to the community on a regular basis.”
School principal Francis Maponyane said, “Zandspruit is an informal settlement with most parents unemployed, and having a charity coming to help in any way that they can lets the children know that they are not alone and that people care.
“Mandela Day works as a source of encouragement to the children by having people such as Tedcor coming to support them on a day like this. I wish to see more support like this happening throughout the year.”
