Northcliff High youngster wins big at the SA Championships of Performing Arts

RANDPARK RIDGE – A young star is destined for greatness in acting and modeling.

A young girl from Randpark Ridge has the spotlight shining on her.

The 15-year-old Mikayla Klerck who is in Grade 9 at Northcliff High School is very active in modelling and drama.

Mikayla is passionate and has won many awards. She started off with drama in primary school to help raise funds for the school, then she took part in the national eisteddfod and decided that it is something she wanted to pursue.

Mikayla Klerck will be competing to go to the Portuguese islands in November for her modeling.

Her biggest achievement was when she beat everyone in her age group and won gold for drama at the South African championships of Performing Arts. She also placed second for modelling at championships for modelling.

“At the moment I am concentrating more on modelling because I want to enter Miss South Africa when I finish school,” said Mikayla.

At the championships which took place from 30 March to 8 April, there were over 3 000 contestants in the national finals. Mikayla won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in acting, and one silver medal in modelling.

Every year Figures Models holds a Figures International Model of the Year competition at every branch, and this year Mikayla was a top eight finalist for the Randburg branch.

“All the girls from the different branches meet at one final competition and winners for the final competition go on a cruise to the Portuguese islands where there are international agents scouting for new talent,” said Mikayla.

“One overall model is chosen for an all-expenses-paid trip to New York, and I hope I can be that model.”

The finals will be held on 29 July when Mikayla hopes she makes it to the cruise. Fingers crossed for the young girl to make it!

Northcliff High’s Mikayla Klerck is passionate about modelling and acting and wants to be Miss South Africa one day.
