NEWLANDS – The skeleton remains include a skull, spine and other small bones.

Police this evening attended to a skeleton that was found in a park in Newlands on the corner of Gordon and Helderberg roads. The skeleton was discovered by a subcontractor working for City Parks, while cutting the grass in the park during the late afternoon of 10 July.

The subcontractor then called City Parks officials to the scene and upon their arrival they contacted the police. While waiting for the police ward councilor Phillip Kruger was called to the scene.

The skeleton remains include a skull, spine and other small bones. As police arrived they contacted the relevant authorities to collect the remains.

This is a developing story. An update on the skeleton will follow as soon as possible.
