Gratitude to Brixton firefighters

BRIXTON – Brixton Fire Station firefighters go the extra mile for Montgomery Park and Alberts Farm.

Ward 88 councillor David Hensman took the initiative to thank the firefighters at Brixton Fire Station for responding to a fire that broke out in Montgomery Park and Alberts Farm on 25 June.

The closest fire station, Roosevelt Park Fire Station could not respond to the fire due to one of the fire trucks being in for engine repairs.

“I would just like to thank you for taking the initiative to respond to an area that you’re not located to and help us put out the fire,” said Hensman, thanking the Brixton firefighters.

Brixton platoon commander Daniel Motsumi said, “We had to respond because we were in the area and it is our responsibility to keep our community safe.”

Hensman handed over a box full of cake and cookies as a token of appreciation to the firefighters.
