Linden police warn the community to be aware of carjackings that have been continuously happening in various areas in their precinct.
Many victims have reported hijackings at the police station. Different descriptions of the suspects have been similar with different victims.
The suspects are reported to be more coloured males on occasion, as well as a black male and a white male.
The police urge the community to be vigilant and aware of the following vehicles and the areas they target:
- VW Polo Reg: FI 59 MP GP reported from Windsor West and Linden
- Red VW Golf 6 reported from Windsor West
- White VW Golf GTI reported from Linden
- Silver Ford Focus reported from Windsor West
- Black VW Golf reported from Windsor West
- Silver convertible BMW reported from Windsor West.
Other cases were reported from Ruiterhof but no description of the suspects’ vehicle has been given. Vehicles that have been reported to be hijacked at the police station are a VW Polo, a Toyota Hilux, a Mercedes Benz, an Audi and a Hyundai.
It is reported that the suspects approach the victims while their vehicles are stationary and threaten the victims with firearms. Victims are forced into the backseat or the boot of their vehicle or into the suspects’ vehicle.
The suspects demand the victim’s bank card Pin numbers and are driven to locations like Eldorado Park, Sophiatown, Bosmont, and Soweto, and then left there.
Victims have not been injured in any of the cases reported.
