Local club raises funds in Northcliff for Doctors Without Borders

The Our Club social friendship club hosted a charity party at the Northcliff Country Club to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders on 5 May.

More than 50 club members and visitors filled the country club hall for the event, socialising with a few drinks before having a catered meal.

The ‘Our Club’ social friendship club committee members Ena Schmidt, Lynne Carol and Val Warner with musician Hedley Salt at the fundraising benefit for Doctors Without Borders.

Club chairperson Ena Schmidt said, “This event is in aid of Doctors Without Borders, and we believe that the money we gather today for this charity will be helping the amazing work they do.”

Together with a small entry fee, raffle tickets were sold where entrants stood the chance to win hampers with various goods donated by the Northcliff community.

The club planned to raise at least R1 500 in donations on the night.

Club members Barlow Naidoo, Trish Moore and Peter Andersen socialise before the event starts at the Northcliff Country Club.

Our Club, which started over 37 years ago, is a club for single, mature people to meet other like-minded individuals in the community to socialise on a regular basis.

Schmidt added, “This hopefully will be the first of a number of charity parties throughout the year, and we welcome ideas and suggestions from those who are interested in joining us.”
