Ward 88 to hold by-elections on 25 April

NORTHCLIFF – Do you know who the by-election candidates are?

After the resignation of Democratic Alliance member Nicholas Lorimer, by-elections for Ward 88 will be taking place on 25 of April.

The candidates are the DA’s David Hensman who says he has been an active member since August 2016, when he volunteered for the party and was later elected as a PR councillor within the City of Johannesburg. He has been a resident of the area for 47 years.

The qualified charted accountant who also studied his MBA at Wits Business School said he wants residents of the area to rest assured that there will be efficient service delivery.

Another candidate is Oscar Plange, who is the chairperson for the Northcliff Residents Association, said he will be representing the Northcliff Residents Assocation and the surrounding suburbs, and plans to lead Ward 88 independently while trying to stop political paralysis in local government.

Register to vote for your ward councillor if you live in the following areas:

Emmerentia, Montroux, Risidale, Roosevelt Park, Montgomery Park, Blackheath, Berario, East Town and Valeridene, Northcliff, and Alberts Farm East and North.

The voting stations are at the following venues:

  • Greymont NG Kerk (Alberts Farm), 2nd Road – Greymont
  • Berario Community Centre, corner Delores and Hoover streets – Berario
  • Northcliff High School, Mountainview Drive – Blackheath Ext 3
  • Franklin D Roosevelt Primary School, Mendelssohn Road – Roosevelt Park
  • Emmarentia Primary School, corner Hill and Umgeni roads – Emmarentia
  • Roosevelt Park Bowling Club, Milner Avenue – Roosevelt Park.
