King David Victory Park celebrates 70 symbolic years

VICTORY PARK – Learners unit to celebrate the Jewish community.

King David Victory Park celebrated Israel’s 70th year of independence at an assembly on 19 April.

The joyous occasion was attended by children of the pre-primary, primary Ariel and high schools.

The deputy to the Israeli ambassador Ayellet Black and the chairman of the SA Zionist Federation addressed learners and guests.

King David Victory Park head principal Andrew Baker said this year was important because it was the 70th year since the establishment of the state of Isreal.

“Let’s celebrate 70 years of growth and the development of the nation of Israel and look forward to 70 more in the future,” said Baker.

After the assembly, the learners formed the number 70 on the high school’s field and released 70 balloons in celebration of the occasion.

King David Victory Park Grade 10 learner Tzipora Krawitz said the day symbolised a whole nation which would always be there for each other and celebrating the Jewish community as a unit.

“The most important part of being a learner at this school and a Jew is the community we belong to,” said Tzipora.

“No matter who you are or your background, it’s good to see everyone come together to in support of a good cause.”
