Giving the elderly some tender love

ALBERTSVILLE – "To treat them felt like fairies had thrown fairy dust on my shoulders."

Nathalie Coen, together with family and friends went out of their way to shower the elderly with love and gifts.

They spent time visiting old-age homes in areas such as Albertsville, Newlands and Claremont with Easter eggs, burgers from Spur as well as chips, biscuits and sweets.

Coen and her team ensured that everyone received something.

“We also gifted the elderly with wooden crosses as I believe God led me there to put a smile on their faces and to spoil them once in a while,” said Coen.

“[Being with the elderly], to be honest, I have never felt so happy in my life. To treat them felt like fairies had thrown fairy dust on my shoulders. I’ve always been a caring person and wanted to do something for people in my community. Huis Hoëveld, for example, is close to me and there is definitely a need there.”

Although Coen is excited to assist more old-age homes in the community, she said she would not have been able to assist anyone without the help of Wild Falcon Spur for the food and Danielle Stephany Karides Houseman for the Easter eggs.

“Giving to the less fortunate is something I would do over and over again. How can I not do something that God led me to? He won’t put rocks in your road if you cannot jump over them.”
