Councillor’s Corner: Drawing the line on road markings

JOBURG – Read this weeks' question in Councillor's Corner.

This week’s question was:

How often should road markings be repainted or maintained? Some roads have become so hazardous if drivers do not know where to drive. What can be done?

Wendy Alexander, Ward 134 councillor, answers this week’s question.

Ward 134 councillor Wendy Alexander answered:

The road markings within the City of Johannesburg are painted every three to six months.

This is all dependent on weather, the volume of traffic, and so forth.
The Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) makes use of the South African Bureau of Standards (Sabs) standard road paint. Residents are encouraged to report any road issues to the City.

They can log issues via the JRA Find & Fix app. This app has GPS capabilities, when issues are logged via the app they are geotagged.
