Littlies learn to give and receive

NORTHCLIFF – Northcliff Nursery School made sure to remember the less fortunate this Easter.

Before starting the search for hidden eggs this Easter, Northcliff Nursery School made sure to include friends that may not have such a happy holiday.

The little ones decided to donate their shoes and went to school wearing silly socks instead. Shoes of all shapes and sizes were donated on 28 March, just before the Easter weekend started.

Shoes of all shapes and sizes were donated on 28 March.

The donation made its way to Westdene’s Heaven’s Gate Safe Haven, a place of refuge for children who are exposed to drug abuse and constantly at risk of physical and sexual abuse.

Taking the shoes, some socks and even some toys to the organisation was Alyson Samson from Kindness Like Confetti (KLC). This organisation takes in all sorts of donations and gives them to relevant organisations to distribute to people who need them most.

The school principal, Renata Alberts, said the day was an end-of-term celebration and she wanted the children to give back to the community. Samson, whose child used to attend the school, gladly assisted.

“KLC has been collecting clothes, shoes and over 8 000 easter eggs that will be distributed to underprivileged children’s homes and old-age homes,” she said.
