Robberies result in two suspects being transported to hospital

NEWLANDS – Suspects crash into a tree during a high speed chase in Newlands.

Suspects were arrested and taken into custody after breaking into residents’ homes in Newlands and Westdene.

This is according to SCP Security director Clive Maher who said one of his clients contacted the security company for assistance after a robbery took place at their home.

A patrol officer arrived at the resident’s home on 16 March at 8.30pm.

He noticed the client’s pedestrian door and the front door had been forcefully opened. The resident wasn’t home at the time of the robbery.

“The resident’s TV was stolen, along with other items from her home.

“While the officer was assisting the resident, he received another call informing him of an attempted robbery in Newlands.

The resident noticed the suspects breaking into his home and decided to give chase in his car. The suspects lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree in Newlands,” said Maher.

He added three suspects were in the vehicle at the time of the chase. One of the suspects managed to escape while the other two were seriously injured and transported to a hospital.
