Roosevelt Park robbers escape with R110 000 worth of possessions

ROOSEVELT – Armed robbers steal items valued at R110 000 from a resident's home.

A resident survived a robbery when armed men forcefully entered his home in Roosevelt Park.

Suburban Crime Prevention (SCP) director, Clive Maher said a robbery took place on 14 March after a resident was followed home.

An SCP reaction officer drove past the house when he noticed the gate was left open leading him to make a U-turn after facing the suspect head on.

“At this point, the suspects had reversed back into the road driving a silver Ford Eco sports car and started shooting at our vehicle in a haste to get away,” said Maher.

A community policing forum (CPF) patroller was also on guard and was watching from behind the suspect’s vehicle.

“The suspects fired several shots at our vehicle hitting it once. Luckily, no one was injured. Our reaction officer returned fire and the suspects fled the scene at high speed, in the direction of Melville.”
