Vox pop: Cabinet reshuffle – same people, different positions?

The Northcliff Melville Times asked Joburgers how they felt about the post-Zextit cabinet reshuffle.

FRANSHESKA NKOSI: Bheki Cele is back so that's good. With Fikile Mbalula gone, it must be hard for him but I think he was ready. It was sad, though.

In light Cyril Ramaphosa taking over from former South African president, Jacob Zuma, and moving ministers around in the cabinet, the Northcliff Melville Times asked residents how they felt about Ramaphosa rearranging his cabinet and in some cases, removing people from it.

This is what the community had to say …

LEBOGANG DINGA: I feel like it’s the same people. It’s like we have one soccer team – we don’t buy new players, we just move them around.

PONTSHO RAMOGAYANE: I think the reshuffle was efficient. The people in seem to have been a good decision and, well, Fikile [Mbalula] should have gone a long time ago.

I like the new shuffle. I’m glad Fikile’s [Mbalula] is gone, police didn’t suit him. I feel like he was more like a puppet.

DAVID MOORE: A friend’s domestic worker said with Cyril taking over from Zuma and the cabinet reshuffle, ‘we wanted a new contract but we just got a sim swop’.

ETHAN CASS: The shuffle makes sense regarding some ministers working with Zuma before but otherwise, I’m pretty neutral about it.
