Gauteng to pay more for vehicle licensing

JOBURG – Come 1 April, car licences could cost R204 or more depending on the vehicle's weight.

This year, South Africans will receive a tax hike, fuel levy increase and in March, a car licensing fee hike.

Motorists will have to cough up more money when licensing their vehicles. The price hike is expected to come into effect on 1 April.

However, policymakers have invited citizens to comment on the new Road Traffic Regulations by 8 March.

Should the government go ahead with the 7.7 per cent increase, motorists in Gauteng may have to pay R204 for a motorcycle licence which is R12 more than last year and between R204 to R24 528 for a car and other licences depending on its weight.
