The meaning of Valentine’s Day is chocolate

LINDEN – Kindness Like Confetti is calling on residents to make someone's Valentine's Day special.

February is the month of love, and for Kindness Like Confetti (KLC), it is the month of chocolate.

The local non-profit organisation is collecting chocolate for elderly people in the immediate area and beyond.

“Kindness is the language of love,” is what KLC founder, Alyson Samson had to say about their most recent project.

The organisation is specifically looking for 80g slabs of chocolate which they will deliver to various retirement homes to show them some love this coming Valentine’s Day.

Samson is calling for those who plan to donate, to gift wrap the chocolates.

While KLC believes that tangible goods change people’s lives, it also gives donors a chance to experience what their kindness can do. To this end, they created a bank account for those who live on the go but still want to make a difference.

Samson explained that the organisation has already had financial donations for the chocolate drive.

When the Northcliff Melville Times checked on the project’s progress, few people had donated. However, Samson said she was getting ready for when it starts pouring in, as many donations haven’t reached her yet.

She said that when they ran the chocolate project last year, they collected 567 slabs and this year she wants to beat that number. This year’s collection ends on 13 February.
