While people were away on holiday, Kindness Like Confetti (KLC), a local charity organisation, made some changes for the better.
KLC takes in all sorts of donations and gives them to relevant organisations to distribute to people who need them most.
The organisation does not only act as a facilitator but also goes out into the community to hand out much-needed items as well as feed those in need.
Since the festive season, KLC has become more organised, though. New shelving was installed on the premises to keep track of what the organisation has collected and how much stock they have of each.
“People donate all kinds of things. It usually happens that one project leads to another, like our bra project – people started donating underwear and swimwear as well,” KLC founder, Alyson Samson said.
In addition to new shelving to keep their head above water with all the donations rolling in, KLC now has a sign-in book which helps Samson keep track of those who donated for a future thank you.
“I like to know who the people are who are donating and I like to keep track of them, and now I think I have the perfect system, especially for when I’m not here to personally take donations,” she said.
Lastly, KLC finally has a bank account of its own. Samson had previously said working with money is not what she’s about, as she would rather get donations and hand them out, however, she has now created space for those who have time constraints but want to play their part.
