JOBURG – Twitter reacts to the news about Solange Knowles missing Joburg's Afropunk New Years Eve music festival.

Social media users took to Twitter after Afropunk organisers announced that Solange Knowles will no longer be performing at the music festival.

The news is currently trending on Twitter with over 39 000 tweets.

The announcement came only days before the festival which is scheduled to take place between 30 and 31 December at Constitution Hill.

Solange also took to Instagram and explained that she will not be making the festival because she has been ‘quietly treating, and working through an autonomic disorder’.

Afropunk has since apologised to ticket-holders and said Solange has vowed to come back to Johannesburg to perform at Afropunk at a later stage.

WE KNOW there are other cool artists at Afropunk Joburg. I just would’ve never paid R1k for a Solange-less one and to not offer refunds because “artists are subject to change” is unprincipled when you’ve been using that very artist to draw people from all over the world.
