It was an emotional day for parents and learners at Northcliff High School during their last assembly.
As per tradition, Northcliff High’s white blazer recipients were announced during the assembly.
Only learners who have obtained three senior full-colour awards in three separate activities are awarded a white blazer.
In addition to announcing the blazer recipients, the school’s 2018 head leaders were announced.
They were presented with the Head Prefects’ Shoes, which have been passed down to head prefects from the very first matric group in 1973.
The shoes, which were handed over to them from the 2017 head leaders, are symbolic of the shoes the leaders have to fill during their time as leaders of the school.
At the end of the assembly, learners were met by their parents who fought back tears while watching their children become good examples for the rest of the school.
White-blazer recipients:
- Matthew Goslin – full colours for swimming, dramatics and academics
- Nadia Murray – full colours for swimming, hockey and academics
- Tiago Smith – full colours for cricket, drama technical and academics.
Head councillors:
- Shannon Winnaar – head girl
- Nadia Murray – deputy head girl
- Tiago Smith – head boy
- Emmanuel Tshituka – deputy head boy
The learners now have much to think about during their holiday and will return to school as Northcliff High’s examples of excellence.
The school also wishes their learners, parents, staff and community a wonderful holiday and festive season ahead.
