Vox Pop: Should more be done about recycling?

JOBURG – Residents give their opinions about whether there should be more recycling bins in the city.

Northcliff Melville Times spoke to community members about whether or not they feel more should be done about recycling in the city in order to get people to stop littering while also sorting their rubbish out to make a real impact on the environment.

This is what the community had to say …

KARABO MOLATLHEGI:
Yes, I feel the City of Johannesburg should be putting out more recycling bins so we can recycle and also keep the city clean.

NATASHIA BEARAM:
I recycle glass and paper. We have paper recycling bins in our complex so that makes paper recycling quite easy. I also reuse glass containers as cocktail glasses or ‘jam jars’ for drinks and cocktails when we entertain. I think people would recycle more if recycling bins were made more accessible.

LEON DE VILLIERS:
I think there needs to be more bins especially around big stores such as Checkers but I also think that even though there will be separate bins for different purposes, people will still throw things into the first bin they see.

JIHAN KANG:
Yes, recycling bins should be everywhere. Even normal bins so we can keep the area clean. If things are clean, you have a clean mind.
