UPDATE: Kidnapped man left for dead

ALBERTVILLE – Man kidnapped and tortured in Albertville.

Four suspects will appear in court on 27 November on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.

The suspects are accused of kidnapping a man in Hillbrow, forcing him into the boot of a vehicle and taking him to a house in Albertville.

According to police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele, the suspects tied up the victim and started to cut the victim’s ears before he passed out.

“The victim woke up in a bath and managed to scream for help after the suspects had left,” said Mbele.

“He was found by a neighbour who had alerted a security company for assistance. They managed to assist the victim before he was rushed to Helen Joseph Hospital.”

The suspects which include a medical doctor were arrested at a house in Newlands. The doctor claimed that the victim and his friends had robbed him earlier that day.

“This is a rare case,” added Mbele. “This is the first case where a person was kidnapped and severely injured.

The allegations made by the doctor cannot be confirmed.

However, we cannot condone what he did as no person is above the law. If indeed he was robbed, he should have opened a case.”
