An ear for animals

EMMARENTIA – Animal lovers collaborate to raise awareness about the well-being of animals.

A dynamic collaboration of literature, storytelling and music is brought to life through a publication called Paws & Listen to the Voices of the Animals.

Selwyn Klaas said he has been working with pianist Tony Bentel on community-based projects with diverse themes for ten years, using words and music.

Through their partnership, they have this ability to create a narrative surrounding different topics. They are working with the world-renowned animal communicator and author of Paws & Listen To The Voices of Animals, Jenny Shone.

“We are going to utilise the aspects of Jenny’s book in the performance. I can identify with the content because I’ve lived in Emmarentia for ten years and every day walking dogs you meet people with similar interests. Animal lovers have a certain comradery and respect for animals’ needs,” said Klaas.

He added there will also be a lucky ticket draw for people to stand a chance of winning hampers.

Shone is launching the updated third edition of her publication at Scoobs Books on 18 November.

Author Jenny Shone holds the third updated edition of her book.

Guests are encouraged to donate R20 to R50 per child for the Rainbow Nation Animals charity. She said has been working as a professional communicator and assisting other people with their animals for 20 years.

“My book was inspired by the animals which I live with. It started with a little dog I lost called Smurfy who is in the book.

Through a lot of investigation, I discovered that I was telepathically communicating with animals and wasn’t aware I was doing it.

Most people are doing it on some level but don’t realise it. I trained further professionally and I pursued it full time with the help of the 15 animals I live with,” said Shone.

She hopes people understand there’s more to animals than just the physical aspect of them; animals have a soul, likes and dislikes. They understand more than we give them credit for.
