‘No thanks’ button and more for Uber drivers

JOBURG – Uber consulted with 12 000 of their driver-partners and gave them what they wanted.

Uber has once again updated its phone application and the way in which driver-partners use it.

The new features of the app are designed for use by driver-partners.

After consulting 12 000 Uber driver-partners, the company implemented three new features to make driving an Uber safer, more flexible and stress-free.

Drivers now have access to the arrival destination and time feature which allows drivers to pick up riders from their last destination and transport them to their final one.

Uber Sub-Saharan Africa general manager, Alon Lits said these new features allow drivers to benefit even on their last Uber trip without going out of their way as they pick riders up going along the same path.

Additionally, with the new long trip notification feature, drivers are notified when a trip is estimated to be 45 minutes or longer so they can plan accordingly.

Drivers can now also politely decline trips with the ‘no thanks’ button without worrying how it will affect their earnings.

The good news for riders is that the trip is referred onto another driver sooner which makes for shorter waiting times.

Lastly, Uber now protects driver ratings as sometimes riders give their trip a low rating for reasons beyond the driver-partner’s control such as an issue with the app itself.

These ratings which previously affected a driver-partner’s score will no longer impact the driver’s overall rating, however, Uber will still obtain the feedback to help the company improve.

The company has said these features are only the beginning and that it will continuously work on improving the app.

Uber said these changes are more than just new features on an app, but rather sustained commitment over time.
