#Aresebetseng – City comes together for second successful clean-up

JOBURG – The City held its second citywide voluntary clean-up.

The City of Johannesburg held its second successful citywide A Re Sebetseng voluntary clean-up on 28 October.

Along with residents who jumped in to help, Executive Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba paid a visit to Region A.

“It is fantastic to see more and more residents coming out in their numbers to help transform Johannesburg into a clean city we can all be proud of.

“My deepest appreciation also goes to every councillor, resident, business, school, institution and religious organisation who took part in today’s activities across our City,” Mashaba said. “Every effort, no matter how small, counts.”

The day before the clean-up, the South African National Taxi Council, the Security Agency of South Africa, the Eyakho Environmental Forum, the Greater Johannesburg Environmental Forum, Okuhle Waste Management and the University of Johannesburg pledged their support to A Re Sebetseng.

McDonald’s and Rosebank College also, respectively, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pikitup.

The next clean-up is scheduled for 25 November.

To get involved, residents can contact their ward councillor.
